I will be eternally forever grateful for this Law Firm. I had been in a 5-year battle I had lost everything when I was referred to this Law Group.

My life was completely changed I felt like I had a voice I felt that I mattered I felt that my disability was causing me not to be seen or heard, they took every word every issue that I had [said] they worked with me to broke things down when I didn't understand and they never made me feel like I was not important. I won my case with a favorable approval they truly go above and beyond this Law Firm makes you feel like a person even when the world disables you out they do not and I will be forever grateful to them because now I can provide for my family and myself again I TRULY THANK Matt Grundy's Law Firm from the bottom of my heart.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

UNDERSTANDING YOUR OPTIONS

Because SSI is "needs-based," SSA will reduce benefits $1 for every $2 earned from work efforts after the initial calculation of eligibility.

Common problems include documentation errors, incomplete medical records, and a misunderstanding of resource limits. Many initial applications are denied due to technical errors rather than medical reasons. Our attorneys know exactly how to present your case to avoid these pitfalls and maximize your chances of approval.

Thanks again for your help on all this.

— T.C. KANSAS CITY

From the first conversation I had with Susan Frank, whose advice set me on a course to lay the groundwork of a successful claim – months before I hired you. I spoke to a couple of other places before I spoke to her and there was no comparison. The difference between my initial contact with Susan VS the others was a personal connection and actual value in the phone call. It was informative, connected and extremely helpful. This built trust and made my decision to choose your organization easy. My ongoing dealings with you only confirmed my choice. Matt is extremely connected with his clients and communicates promptly and thoughtfully.”

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

UNDERSTANDING YOUR OPTIONS

SSDI benefits are for workers who've paid into Social Security through payroll taxes. Eligibility requires sufficient work credits (typically 40 credits, with 20 earned in the last 10 years), a disability preventing substantial work for at least 12 months, and medical documentation proving your condition.

Common application problems include insufficient medical evidence, failure to follow prescribed treatment, and working while applying. The average SSDI application takes 8-10 months for initial review, with more than 60% being denied. Our experienced team helps gather compelling medical evidence and ensures your application tells your complete story.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We Answer Common Social Security Disability Questions

How Long Does The Disability Claim Process Take?

Initial decisions typically take 8-10 months. If denied and we request reconsideration, add 3-4 months. A hearing before a judge can take 12-18 months to schedule. With our help, many clients see faster processing times due to properly completed applications.

Can I Work While Applying For Disability?

You can work, but earning over the maximum limit will likely result in denial. This is called “substantial gainful activity.” Part-time work under this amount may be okay, but discuss with us first to avoid jeopardizing your claim.

What’s The Difference Between SSI and SSDI?

SSDI is based on your work history and payments into Social Security. SSI is need-based for those with limited income/resources. SSDI typically pays more and includes Medicare after 24 months. SSI includes immediate Medicaid. Many people qualify for both.

What If I’ve Already Been Denied?

Don’t give up! Over 60% of initial applications are denied. We specialize in appeals and have excellent success rates at the reconsideration and hearing levels. The key is acting quickly - you typically only have 60 days to appeal a denial.
